This coin commemorates Hadrian's extended visit to Asia Minor in 129-130 AD. Beginning in Athens in the summer of 129 AD, he crossed over to the Ionian coast and visited Ephesus. He then travelled around southern Asia Minor, stopping in Caria and Lycia, before he proceeded to Commagene and Antioch.
