CELTIC. Atrebates. Lot of two AR. Eppilius. Circa 1st century BC-AD. AR Minim (9mm, 0.21 gm). Cross with spiral arms and groups of pellets / Goat right. Van Arsdell 421-1; SCBC 103. Fine, porous. // Verica. Circa 10-40 AD. AR Unit (14mm, 0.69 gm). Shield / Lion right. Van Arsdell 505-1; SCBC 132. VF, heavily chipped. Two (2) coins in lot.
Van Arsdell describes the types of minim of Eppilius as a spiral pattern / horse. Hobbs has the cross correct, but calls the animal a ram. It is clearly a goat, with long slightly curved horns and a "goatee". The minim is ex Wanborough hoard.
