KINGS of PONTOS. Mithradates VI Eupator. Circa 120-63 BC. AV Stater (19.5mm, 8.38 g, 1h). Pergamon mint. Dated year 3 of the Pergamene Era (86 BC). Diademed head right / BAΣIΛEΩΣ MIΘPAΔATOY EYΠATOPOΣ, stag grazing left; star-in-crescent to left; to right, Γ (date) above civic monogram of Pergamon; monogram in exergue; all within Dionysiac wreath of ivy and fruit. Callataÿ dies D8/R2; HGC 7, 334; DCA 689; Gulbenkian 942 (same obv. die). Good VF, minor double strike on reverse. Extremely rare date, only five examples in Callataÿ, with only one added in his recent addendum. This is the only example in CoinArchives.
