Diademed and draped bust left, wearing short beard / + BRΛNTI(NG) ΘN ZVÐB, small cross pattée. SCBI –; Hild –; BMC –; North 779; SCBC 1154 var. (rev. crosses). Near EF, light golden tone. Rare variety from a rare mint.

This unusual variety, with its very distinctive bearded portrait of Aethelred, is known for only five mints: Colchester, Ipswich, Stamford, Sudbury, and Thetford.
