ANGLO-SAXON, Kings of All England. Harthacnut. 1035-1042. AR Penny (18mm, 1.13 g, 9h). Arm and Scepter type, in the name of Cnut (BMC xvii, Hild. I). London mint; Brungar, moneyer. Struck 1040-1042. Diademed bust left, holding trefoil-tipped scepter / + BRVNGAR ON LVN, quadrilateral, with pellet in center and angles, over voided short cross. SCBI 40 (Stockholm), 1877 = Hild. 2092 (same dies); North 799; SCBC 1169. Good VF, toned, slightly soft in center. Rare.
