BECKER FORGERIES. Pacatian. Usurper, circa AD 248-249. AR “Antoninianus” (21mm, 3.30 g, 6h). Forgery by Carl Wilhelm Becker, 1772-1830. Radiate and draped bust right / Salus standing right, feeding serpent from patera. Hill,
Becker 205/212 (obv./rev.). VF, toned, obverse double struck. Overstruck on a genuine denarius with trace of undertype obverse legend (TONINVS AVG) behind head.
From the J. Eric Engstrom Collection. Ex Classical Numismatic Auctions XX (25 March 1992), lot 1505.
It is possible that the undertype is an issue of Antoninus Pius, but more likely it is one of Marcus Aurelius.
