This example relates to the establishment of a mint at Narbo in Gaul. After Cn. Domitius Ahenobarbus defeated the Gallic Allobroges in 121 BC, his son, also Cn. Domitius Ahenobarbus, along with L. Licinius Crassus, established a Roman colony at Narbo. Within a few years, a mint was established there and these serrate denarii were among its earliest issues.
