MYSIA, Adramytion. Orontes. Satrap of Mysia, circa 357-352 BC. AR Half Siglos or Tetrobol (14mm, 2.56 g, 9h). Helmeted head of Athena left / Forepart of Pegasos right; O to right. Troxell, Orontes 1 var. (OPON-T-A counterclockwise around from bottom left); S&B 1 var. (same); SNG France 1161 (Lampsakos) var. (same); SNG Copenhagen –; SNG von Aulock –. VF, lightly toned, porosity, a few minor pits. Rare.

It is likely that the name is inscribed retrograde on this piece, with the rest of the letters below the forepart of Pegasos. A similar arrangement is known for an issue of Orontes’ obols (cf. S&B 7).
