Gold ring brooch. England, circa 13th-14th centuries AD. Carrying a cryptic inscription making use of Christian symbols and Greek and Latin letters. The pin is a separate piece, modeled with a folded tang to form a loop for suspension. Diameter: 28mm; weight: 3.61g. A very fine example of type. Cf. Victoria and Albert Museum Collection 43.1975.
