New Kingdom. 18th Dynasty. Queen Tiye (1390-1338 BC). Steatite scarab (15x10mm). Face depicts Tiye’s name including three
ma’at (“truth”) symbols and
nemet nesewt Tiye or “the royal wife Tiye.” She became the great Royal Wife of Amenhotep III, and was the mother of Akhenaten and grandmother of Tutankhaman. Earthen encrustation. Pierced. A well-preserved example. Cf. NFA 138-9.
