LAKONIA, Lakedaimon (Sparta). Circa 35-31 BC. Æ Dupondius (22mm, 8.54 g, 7h). Laureate head of Apollo right; [E TIMANΔPOC?] behind / Artemis standing left, holding spear; to lower left, dog standing left, head right; Λ–A across upper field, two monograms across lower field; all within wreath. Grunauer Group XIX, Series 2; BCD Peloponnesos 912; HGC 5, 616. Fine, dark green patina with patches of red, some minor smoothing. Rare.
Although the magistrate’s name is barely visible, it is very likely to be signed “E TIMANΔPOC”. The other magistrate signature – “ΓEPONTΩN” – is known from only one obverse die.
