MYSIA, Priapos(?). 4th-3rd centuries BC. Æ (10.5mm, 1.02 g, 12h). Head of female left / Crawfish right above shell. Cf. SNG BN 2404; cf. SNG Ashmolean 945; Pecunem 18, lot 151. VF, hard dark green patina. Rare.

The attribution of this issue to Priapos is based on the similarity of the types on an issue at Priapos (cf. BN and Ashmolean coins referenced). That issue, though, differs from the present one in that the obverse type is right, and the reverse has the city ethnic and the crawfish is the central type with a small shell as a supplemental symbol (other issues retain the crawfish, but have other symbols). Thus, it is possible that this coin is an issue from a related, but different city.
