Andronicus II Palaeologus, with Michael IX. 1282-1328. Hyperpyron Nomisma (27mm, 4.01 g, 6h). Class II. Constantinople mint. Struck circa 1294-1303. Half-length figure of the Theotokos, orans, within city walls with six towers; sigla I | I / Christ standing facing, crowning Andronicus and Michael kneeling to left and right, respectively; seven pellets in two groups (one group of three, the other of four). Cf. DOC 235-8; PCPC 127 (cf. sigla 1); SB 2396. VF, lightly toned, a couple of hairline flan cracks. Apparently unpublished with these sigla and pellets on the reverse.
