Struck circa 797/8-805. + COENVVL·F REX around barred Mercian m in beaded inner circle / +E OB A in the angles of three-lined tribrach moline, inner line pelleted. Naismith C14.1h (this coin); SCBI 2 (Hunterian), 330; BMC 96; North 342; SCBC 914 (this coin illustrated). Near EF, toned. A rare and attractive coin with an impressive pedigree.
