Struck circa 875-880. + ÆLFRE D REXS Λ, diademed bust right / HEΛ HSTΛ N MO (NE)TΛ, cross pattée within lozenge over long beaded cross; crossbars at lozenge ends. Blackburn & Keynes 46 = SCBI 9 (Ashmolean), 247 (same dies); BMC –; EMC 2016.0034 (this coin); North 629; SCBC 1058. EF, toned. Well struck with an elegant portrait. Very rare.
