MYSIA, Parium. Elagabalus. AD 218-222. Æ (23mm, 5.92 g, 6h). Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / Capricorn right, with globe between hooves and cornucopia on back. Coins of Elagabalus from Parion are missing from the standard references, but for similar see: Roma E28, lot 279; Roma E29, lot 273 = Felzmann 157, lot 132. VF, brown surfaces. Rare.


The sales cited above cite SNG BN 1494, which features a portrait of a bearded Caracalla, although the beard is not completely clear on the worn Paris specimen.
