Holyland Pottery Vessels from the Stearns Collection

Lot of six terracotta vessels. Chalcolithic Period – Iron Age. Includes a pre-wheel, two-handled Chalcolithic juglet with snake decoration in relief, circa 4000-3200 BC (6.7cm); a two-handled Chalcolithic juglet, circa 3200 BC (10.2cm); an Early Bronze Age single-handled dipper juglet, circa 3000-2100 BC (8.7cm); a two-handled Late Bronze Age pilgrim’s flask, circa 1550-1200 BC (14.8cm); a two-handled Late Bronze/Iron Age pyxis with faint traces of original paint, circa 1300-1100 BC (9.3cm); and a small, single-handled juglet, possibly Late Iron Age, 8th-6th centuries BC (6.5cm). Some chips. The flask with mouth restored, the pyxis very rough in areas.
