ATTICA, Athens. Circa 454-404 BC. AR Tetradrachm (24mm, 17.09 g, 9h). Helmeted head of Athena right, with frontal eye / Owl standing right, head facing; olive sprig and crescent behind; all within incuse square. Kroll 8; HGC 4, 1597. Good VF, deeply toned, traces of find patina, die break on reverse.
Ex David Herman FPL 9 (February 1990), lot 22.
The striations in the field on the reverse are quite unusual, and suggest that this may be a very high quality contemporary imitation.
