THESSALY, Kierion. Circa 360-350 BC. Æ Chalkous (15mm, 2.76 g, 5h). Laureate head of Zeus right; A to left, Π below / Κ-Ι-Ε-Ρ (partially retrograde), star of eight rays. BCD Thessaly I –; BCD Thessaly II –; HGC 4, –; apparently unpublished. VF, glossy black patina. Extremely rare.
From the BCD Collection.
Though similar in design to coins of Ioulis and Karthaia, the ethnic and obverse type clearly points toward an attribution to Kierion.
