THRACE, Serdica. Julia Domna. Augusta, AD 193-217. Æ (24mm, 6.37 g, 6h). Draped bust right / Tyche standing left, holding rudder and cornucopia. H&J –; Ruzicka –; Varbanov –; CNG E-252, lot 255. Near VF, brown patina.
Ex John Casey Collection.
Apparently rare with this bust showing Domna with her hair arranged in a bun in the back (typical from the reign of Septimius Severus). Coins of the same type struck under Caracalla, with the empress wearing a fashionable wig, are far more common.
