398, Lot: 624. Estimate $300.
Sold for $380. This amount does not include the buyer’s fee.

Heraclius, with Heraclius Constantine. 610-641. AV Solidus (12mm, 4.41 g, 6h). Carthage mint. Dated IY 11 (622/3) and 9(?) (620/1). Crowned and draped facing busts of Heraclius and Heraclius Constantine; cross above; IA at end of legend / Cross potent set on three steps; Θ//CONOB. DOC 227a.1; MIB 84b11/9; SB 867. Good VF.

The IA at the end of the obverse legend is clear, whereas the Θ is just a blob at the end of the reverse legend, and may actually be a G with the reverse legend reading VICTO RIA AGG (sic). Both Dumbarton Oaks and MIB do record, however, the combination of the 11 and 9 indictional years.
