MACEDON, Thessalonica. Augustus, with Divus Julius Caesar. 27 BC-AD 14. Æ (19mm, 6.91 g, 6h). Crowned head of Caesar right / Bare head of Augustus right. Touratsoglou Em. I; RPC I 1555. Fine, dark green patina.
From the estate of Thomas Bentley Cederlind.
Touratsoglou interpreted this issue as a restitution issue struck during the reign of Domitian, but countermarks found on the coins suggest a much earlier date (RPC p. 298; Howgego, notes to 702 and 705).
