Vespasian. AD 69-79. AR Denarius (18.5mm, 3.00 g, 6h). Rome mint. Struck January-June (and later?) AD 70. Laureate head right / Neptune standing left, right foot on prow, holding dolphin and trident. RIC II 25; RSC 90; CNG E320, lot 384 (same dies). VF, toned, some porosity. Portrait is of Vitellius. Very early issue of Vespasian, perhaps the first issue, before the die engraver knew what Vespasian looked like.
