CILICIA, Uncertain. 4th century BC. AR Obol (10.5mm, 0.60 g, 5h). Draped bust, wearing satrapal headdress, facing slightly left; star to left / Crowned and draped female bust left. Gökturk 88 (Evagoras II in Salamis); Troxell & Kagan -; SNG France -; SNG Levante -; Traité II 135 and 1183 (Evagoras II in Salamis); Winzer 18.2 (Mazaios in Cilicia). Good VF, toned, minor roughness, off center on obverse.

The proposed attribution of this type to Evagoras II, originally made in the 19th century, is likely incorrect (cf. SNG Kayhan 1066 for a similar obol historically attributed to Evagoras). Interestingly, although Gökturk 88 retains the attribution to Evagoras II, Gökturk 52, another obol certainly related to this type, is placed at an uncertain mint in Cilicia.
