EGYPT, Alexandria. Hadrian. AD 117-138. Æ Drachm (33mm, 27.83 g, 12h). Dated RY 21 (AD 136/137). Laureate bust left, slight drapery / Greek Sphinx seated right on ground line, wearing kalathos on head, left forepaw on wheel; K-A (date) across field, [L] in exergue. Köln –; Dattari (Savio) 7909; K&G 32.751 var. (obv. bust bareheaded, sphinx left); RPC III 6203; Emmett 1054.21 (R5). Good Fine, reddish-brown patina with traces of green, a bit of roughness. RPC records three examples of this variety (bust left, sphinx right): the ANS collection, Berk BBS 83 (26 October 1994), lot 919, and the Dattari coin.
