SICILY, Messana. 412-408 BC. AR Tetradrachm (26.5mm, 17.06 g, 4h). Obverse die signed by Simin–. Charioteer driving biga of mules left; above, Nike flying right, holding wreath and kerykeion; ΣIMIN on exergual line (traces visible); in exergue, fish left / Hare springing left; below, eagle perched right on rock, devouring snake held in talon; MEΣΣ-ANI-ΩN around. Caltabiano Series XV, 628 (D224/R252); HGC 2, 803; SNG ANS 381 (same obv. die); Jameson 653 (same dies); Gulbenkian 226 (same dies). VF, toned, scratch and die break on reverse. Well centered.
