The Triumvirs. Octavian and Divus Julius Caesar. 38 BC. Æ Sestertius or Dupondius (30mm, 24.99 g, 6h). Uncertain mint, possibly in Southern Italy. Wreathed head of Octavian right / Wreathed head of Divus Julius Caesar. Crawford 535/1; CRI 308; Sydenham 1335; RPC I 620. VF, heavily smoothed and tooled. The wreath on the obverse portrait has been added during the tooling process and is not original to the design. LOT SOLD AS IS, NO RETURNS. With an early 20th century Dutch collector’s ticket, indicating it was purchased in Leiden, October 1929.
