Theodore I Comnenus-Lascaris. Emperor of Nicaea, 1208-1222. BI Aspron Trachy (31mm, 3.94 g, 6h). First coinage. Nicaea mint. Struck circa 1205-1212. The Theotokos (Virgin Mary) enthroned facing, holding nimbate head of the Infant Christ / Theodore, holding labarum, and St. Theodore, holding spear, standing facing, both holding patriarchal cross between them. DOC 5a; SB 2061. Good VF, dark brown patina, hint of flat strike at periphery.
