From the Norman Frank Collection.
In Sumadra-Pasai and Acheh, the mas was a coin based on the Indian standard and weighing about 0.6 grams. Elsewhere in the region, the Chinese standard dominated, and a coin of this weight would be referred to as a kupang, one fourth of a mas (Leyten p. 204-9).
