Steatite scarab. Egypt, New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty. Thutmose III (circa 1479-1425 BC). Scarab with simple details and piercing for suspension. On face, winged Horus before the cartouche of Thutmose III; nb (“lord”) below (19x14mm). A few miniscule chips, otherwise well-preserved and attractive.

The son of Thutmose II and Hatshepsut, Thutmose III was the sixth pharoah of the 18th Dynasty. He ruled for over half a century, during which time the Egyptian Empire reached its zenith.
