CAPPADOCIA, Nicopolis ad Lycum. Marcus Aurelius. AD 161-180. Æ (22mm, 8.15 g, 12h). Dated CY 91 (AD 162/3). Laureate head right / Zeus seated left, holding Nike and scepter. SNG von Aulock 6792. Good Fine, brown surfaces. Very rare.
This issue is often given to Nicopolis-Emmaus in Judaea. RPC Online (temp. no. 6367) assigns the type to Nicopolis ad Lycum and notes that von Aulock acquired his specimen in the vicinity of the ancient town.
