PTOLEMAIC KINGS of EGYPT. Berenike II, wife of Ptolemy III. Circa 244/3-221 BC. Æ Tritartemorion (15mm, 3.91 g, 12h). Uncertain mint on the north Syrian coast. Struck circa 244-241 BC. Diademed and draped bust right of Berenike II / Eagle with open wings standing left on thunderbolt; EY to left; c/m: cornucopia within oval incuse. Svoronos 1056; Weiser –; SNG Copenhagen –; Noeske 131. Fine, dark brown to black surfaces with reddish earthen highlights/deposits, a bit of roughness.


Per Cathy Lorber, the mint is probably either Ras Ibn Hani (Lorber) or Seleucia in Pieria (Weiser).
