KINGS of MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’. 336-323 BC. AR Tetradrachm (27.5mm, 16.97 g, 11h). Uncertain mint in the Levant or East. Possibly posthumous issue. Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin / Zeus Aëtophoros seated left; in left field, NK monogram above ΔEI; HI monogram and P below throne. Price PO(1) 211 = A. F. von Prokesh-Osten, "Liste des Alexandres de ma collection qui ne se trouvent pas dans le catalogue de Mr. L. Müller" in
NZ 1 (1869), 211; CNG Inventory 263521 (same dies). Good VF, toned, some roughness and light die wear. Very rare, three in CoinArchives, one in CNG sold coins database, from the one obverse and two reverse dies.
