GREEK, Lucania. Thourioi. Circa 350-300 BC. AR “Double Nomos – Distater” (26mm, 15.42 g, 1h). After dies by “Festa,” circa 1937. Head of Athena right, wearing crested Attic helmet decorated on its bowl with Skylla raising his left arm, on its neck guard with a griffin springing right / Bull butting right, (VE) monogram on rump, on plain ground line; ΘOYPIΩN above; in exergue, fish right. Cf. Noe, Thurian, B8 (for prototype); IBSCC Bulletin 20.2 (1995/6), p. 30, RO.1 (same dies). EF, toned. A well made fake.
