ARABIA, Southern. Himyar. 'Amdān Bayān Yahaqbiḍ. Circa AD 100-120. AV Unit (14mm, 1.26 g, 6h). Scyphate type with name 'Amdān Bayān. Raydan mint. Male head right, with hair in long ringlets; monogram to left, interrupting beaded border / Small head right; ‘mdn byn (king’s name in South Arabian) above, ‘scepter’ to right, rydn (mint name in South Arabian) below. Cf. CAF 3.4i (for type in silver); Huth 436; SNG ANS –; CNG 100, lot 107. Good VF, holed and plugged. Extremely rare in gold.
