Aesculapius, warding off winged Death, who holds a victim left, standing right, holding wrist of woman seated left, embracing child; behind, woman standing weeping; in background, classical physicians, one holding a smoking bowl; E. ROGAT 1832 behind weeping woman; INVASION DU CHOLÉRA/EN 1832 in two lines in exergue / (rosette) LA VILLE DE HA[...] PR[...] RECONNAISSANTE. (rosette) 31 MAI AU 15 [...], city-gate within oak wreath. Cf. CNG E-422, lot 689 (for obv.). VF, some smoothing and preparation mark. An unusual hybrid, consisting of clichés of the obverse and reverse, soldered into a solid bronze collar.
