BOEOTIA, Thebes. Circa 379-368 BC. AR Stater (20mm, 12.23 g). Onas-, magistrate. Boeotian shield / Amphora; ON-A[Σ] across field; all within concave circle. Hepworth 79; BCD Boiotia 520; HGC 4, 1331. Good VF, lightly toned, a couple minor marks on obverse, faint graffito in field on reverse. Rare.
From the Gasvoda Collection. Ex Heritage 3015 (7 September 2011), lot 23083; Triton XIII (4 January 2010), lot 1189.
From the consignor: Now that the BCD examples are on the market, the Thebes Shield coins are rather common. I chose this example for the perfectly centered shield.
