SCOTLAND. William I 'the Lion'. 1165-1214. AR Penny (21mm, 1.45 g, 2h). Second (Crescent & Pellet) coinage, Type I. Edinburgh mint; Adam, moneyer. Struck circa 1174-1180. Crowned head left; cross pattée-tipped scepter to left / Cross pattée crosslet; pellet-in-crescents in quarters. Burns 2 and fig. 30; SCBC 5024. Near VF, toned, ghosting on obverse. Very rare at Edinburgh.
