From the consignor: The Duke of Marlborough captured the cities of Bonn, Huy, and Limbourg in 1703 laying the foundation for a move into northern France as part of the War of Spanish Succession. Although these victories are commemorated here, setbacks followed and prevented the planned invasion of France for some time to come. It would not be until the citadel at Lille was captured that this initial plan would move forward.
