C. Cassius. 126 BC. Æ Bes (10.33 gm). Head of Vulcan right, wearing ivy wreath; S •• behind / Prow of galley right; S •• before. Crawford 266/3; Sydenham 504. Nice VF, brown patina with earthen highlights, light obverse porosity. Very rare. ($1500)
C. Cassius was the only moneyer to strike the bes denomination. A much better specimen than the plate coin in Crawford.
