SYRTICA, Sabratha. Augustus. 27 BC-AD 14. Æ (28mm, 17.15 g, 12h). Struck circa AD 8-14(?). Laureaete head of Baal-Melqart right; Neo-Punic [...]G[...] below / Bare head of Augustus right; lituus to right; all within wreath. Cf. MAA 42d; cf. RPC I 812. Good Fine, dark green patina, some roughness.

The prominent “G” below the head of Baal is clear, but there seem to be some additional letters or markings to either side. These are smaller than the “G” and quite faint, but they appear to be in the die and not merely an “optical illusion” caused by the roughness. It is possible this is a re-cut die from the magistrate “MNṢY” (RPC I 813).
