An enigmatic issue, this coin may also be an unrecorded sceat, due to its lower weight and fabric (although northern Merovingian types like this are known (see OdV&K for other issues). This coin was most likely struck along the Channel, where there was a flow of Continental types to Britain and Frisia where they were imitated.
