PTOLEMAIC KINGS of EGYPT. Arsinoe II Philadelphos. Died 270/268 BC. AV Mnaieion – ‘Oktadrachm’ (29.5mm, 27.83 g, 12h). Alexandreia mint. Struck under Ptolemy VI-VIII, circa 180-116 BC. Head right, veiled and wearing stephane; lotus-tipped scepter in background, K to left / APΣINOHΣ ΦIΛAΔEΛΦOY, double cornucopia, grape bunches hanging at sides, bound with fillet. Svoronos 1242β (same obv. die); Olivier Group 5, 3472 (D33/R80 – this coin); SNG Copenhagen –; SNG Delepierre 3063; BMC –; Boston MFA –; Noeske –. EF, underlying luster, a few light marks in fields. Exceptional style for this later Arsinoe issue.
