JUSTINIAN I. 527-565 AD. AV Solidus (4.45 gm). Uncertain western mint. Helmeted and cuirassed facing bust, holding globus cruciger; pellet in helmet crest / Angel standing facing, holding long cross and globus crucige; star in right field; D/CONOB. Cf. DOC I 320c; cf. MIB 34; cf. SB 291 (all Rome mint). Good VF, weak strike. ($300)

There are subtle stylistic differences between this piece and the normal Rome mint issues, most notably the pellet in the helmet crest.
