Gordian I. AD 238. AR Denarius (21mm, 2.98 g, 5h). Rome mint. IMP M ANT GORDIANVS AFR AVG, laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / ROMAE AET ERNAE, Roma seated left on shield, holding Victory in right hand and leaning on vertical scepter with left. RIC IV 4; RSC 8; BMCRE 8–9. Near EF, toned, traces of underlying luster. An attractive example.
