The reverse of this coin depicts the Fontana del Pantheon, the original of which was erected under pope Gregory XIII. The fountain took its current shape in 1711, when Baroque sculptor Filippo Barigioni was commissioned to update the design, incorporating a large Egyptian obelisk. The obelisk had initially been carved under Pharoah Ramses II (1279–1213 BC) for use in the Temple of Ra at Heliopolis, and was later brought to Rome and used in the ancient Iseum Campense.
