ANGLO-SAXON, Substantive Gold Phase. Circa 630-650. AV Thrymsa – Shilling (11.5mm, 1.28 g, 3h). London-derived type. Bare head right within striated border / + ZUOONVVONA, plain short cross in beaded circle. Sutherland 54 (dies O3/R3) = Metcalf 31 (same dies); A&W type V.xi; cf. SCBI 63 (BM), 15; SCBI 69 (Abramson), 1; North 22; SCBC 754. Good VF, light marks, tiny edge split. Extremely rare. The first example of this type at auction in over 25 years.
