MOESIA & THRACE. Æ (22mm, 7.25 g). Countermarks applied under the Flavians, AD 69-81 . AVG in rectangular stamp, TI • CÆ in rectangular stamp, VI in rectangular stamp, VA in rectangular stamp, and a laurel branch in circular stamp on a bronze of Augustus. AVG: Pangerl 91. TI • CÆ: Pangerl 90. VI: Pangerl 91. VA: Pangerl 119. Laurel branch: apparently unpublished in the standard references. Host Fair, c/ms Fine to Good VF, green patina, some roughness.

From the Richard Baker Collection.

Pangerl suggests a source in Gaul for the VA countermark, but its association here with confirmed Moesian types suggests a different origin.
