Good VF, toned, banker’s mark on obverse.

From the Andrew McCabe Collection. Ex JD Collection (Part III, Numismatica Ars Classica 78, Part II, 27 May 2014), lot 1811; Müller-Solingen 23 (3 March 1978), lot 327.

Crawford says that this type with the name of Tarquitius, RRC 366/4, was struck in Spain and implies that the rest of the issue with Fabius Hispanienus, but not mentioning Tarquitius, was struck in Italy. The text needs careful reading in conjunction with the catalogue, which mentions Group 1 (RRC 366/1/2) and Group 2 (RRC 366/3/4). Considering the change in style between Groups 1 and 2, the Spanish mintage clearly includes all of Group 2, including coins mentioning only Annius and Fabius but not Tarquitius. [Andrew McCabe]
