PERSIA / BAKTRIA. Bronze stamp seal. Circa 3rd-2nd century BC. Triface seal, length 29mm. Three intaglios on the faces: a crouching lion, a scorpion, and a winged dragon-fish. Pierced horizontally for wearing. Good condition, brown patina, somewhat worn. Crude but vigorous style. ($400)
The symbols are probably of astrological significance; Leo and Scorpio of the zodiac, and a sky serpent.
